Maersk Container Industry (MCI) announced a new partnership with the United Nations’ SAVE FOOD initiative, aimed at making international food logistics more efficient. The UN’s food organization estimates that globally, up to 50 percent of fresh fruits and vegetables are lost between farm and fork. Transportation and distribution accounts for between 5 and 20 percent of those losses, depending on the global region. As part of the SAVE FOOD partnership, MCI and other food industry companies will share expertise to improve the food logistics chain.
