New APV spray dryers.
During a recent expansion project at its Indianapolis plant, Universal Flavors, a division of Universal Foods of Milwaukee, WI, installed three new APV spray dryers. A Foxboro I/A Series system was also implemented to automate, control and monitor the two larger APV spray dryers and associated CIP (clean-in-place) systems.

The Foxboro system communicates with approximately 260 I/O points from the spray dryers and CIP systems through Allen-Bradley Flex I/O. The Flex I/O connects directly to two Foxboro Micro-I/A field automation subsystems. The Micro-I/A's provide all regulatory, discrete and phase logic control functionality.
