Carrier Corp. now uses AK Steel’s AgION, a silver ion-based compound that suppresses the growth of bacteria, molds, mildew, fungi and other microbes, as a standard in the production of its 39M Aero Air Handling Units and as a factory option for Racan-Carrier custom air handling systems. Antimicrobial-coated HVAC components decrease odor, stains and corrosion often associated with the growth of microbes. Registered by the EPA for use on HVAC components, AgION is also FDA listed for food contact.
