Westfalia Technologies, Inc. has built a new 75,600-sq.-ft. manufacturing facility and office headquarters on 10 acres of land in York, Pa. The space, which more than doubled WT's office space, is designed for stacker crane, palletizer and conveyor equipment manufacturing. A state-of-the-art powder coating system was installed in the new facility. Powder coating results in an exceptionally durable finish that withstands more abuse than traditional methods of painting. "We wanted a building that reflects the innovation we design into our products," said Dan Labell, President of Westfalia. "The choice of materials and design set this building apart from the others in the area."
Sycamore Creek, a leading producer of whole-roasted soynuts and sweet corn has built a new oil roasting facility in Stockbridge, Mich. The new roasting equipment produces whole or diced soynuts that are available as conventional or organic. W.G. Thompson, the new owners of Sycamore Creek, is a leading Canadian exporter of food-grade soybeans with over 75 years experience in marketing soybeans, dry beans, cereals and other specialty crops. Soybeans contain isoflavones, which have been shown in studies to lower cholesterol, protect against certain cancers, ease menopause symptoms and reduce the risk of heart disease. Alergy-sufferers can be confident that the Sycamore Creek facility is totally peanut-free.
