Using CAN field bus technology, the Intelli-Torque from C.W. Brabender monitors and controls production conditions such as extruder speed, temperature, pressure and torque. The unit comes with a serial data communication system for the exchange of messages between different control units. In combination with a single/twin screw extruder, extrusion processes such as cold forming, gelatinization, cooking and expansion, texturization and extrusion of biodegradable polymer-starch compounds can be simulated under production-like conditions, says the company.
