Trim-Riteis building a new $14 million pig slaughter plant in Freeport, IL. When complete, the plant will process 2,000 pigs and employ 200 people.

After a pause in construction, Ridgefield Farms is again moving forward with plans to build a new cattle-processing facility in Huron, SD. Ground was originally broken in 2004 for the $42 million facility, which should be ready for business in 2006.



Risco USA has opened a test facility in its South Easton, MA, headquarters. The 1,300-sq.-ft. facility includes a test kitchen that can demonstrate a range of stuffing, linking and depositing applications. Complete production systems can also be installed for on-site customer review and approval before delivery.

A 750,000-sq.-ft., full-line grocery distribution center was opened by WinCo Foods. The site will serve the company's 38 stores across five West Coast states, including California and Washington.

Alfa Laval has expanded its Greenwood, IN, service and repair center to serve to its Midwest customers. In addition to its total service offerings, the facility can provide plate re-gasketing and reconditioning, as well as on-site TurnKey service for all types of Alfa Laval equipment.

A $950,000, 5,000-sq.-ft. addition will double the current area of Urschel Laboratories' product test cutting facility in Valparaiso, IN. When finished, the site will accommodate test cutting of customers' products on Urschel equipment, in addition to research and development.
