Karcher says its dry ice blaster is an effective, mess-free method for in-place cleaning that eliminates the need to dissemble machinery before cleaning. The IB 15/80 Dry Ice Blaster uses compressed air to propel tiny dry ice pellets at supersonic speeds so they flash freeze, then lift contaminants from metal surfaces. The pellets quickly vaporize into the air so there’s no wastewater or solvent disposal, only the soiled contaminant that can be swept up. The method is non-abrasive, using micro-thermal shock to lift the contaminants and can clean crevices that can’t be reached by hand or other cleaning methods.
