Smithfield Packing Co.is expanding production at its Stadler country ham plant in Elon, NC. The expansion is expected to increase the plant's production from 9 million to 16 million pounds and will add 40 new employees to the 140 existing workers at the plant.

Cadbury Schweppesopened its first regional science and technology center in Singapore. The $2.7 million, 920-square-meter innovation center will focus on creating new gum and candy products and explore new food technology to enhance product development.
