Toray Plastics (America), Inc. has released Lumirror PET high-barrier films. Among the Lumirror polyester high-barrier film applications are the new FDA-compliant, heat-sealable, printable LumiLid XLS5 lidding film and metallized LumiLid XLM5 lidding film. Both co-extruded films are said to create a tight, secure and clean seal on APET, APET-coated board, CPET, PP, HDPE and HIPS containers, including those with pleated corners. As a printable film with an improved adhesion-promoting surface and good receptivity to water-based and solvent inks and adhesives, the LumiLid XLS5 can transform lidding into valuable branding space. Suitable applications for these lidding films include FDA-compliant, dual-ovenable, sterilizable, hot-fill, fresh, refrigerated and frozen foods, dairy, wet and dry convenience foods, desserts, beverages and snacks.
