Anti-tax groups voice concerns on Farm Bill’s dairy program
The proposed Dairy Market Stabilization Program (DMSP) is proving to be among the more contentious issues surrounding the 2012 Farm Bill, now being assembled in Congress. Three anti-tax groups, Council for Citizens Against Government Waste, Americans for Tax Reform and National Taxpayers Union, released a letter saying the farm legislation should not include “government-imposed limits on milk production.” The groups echo the sentiments of food manufacturers, who strongly oppose DSMP. Producers meanwhile generally support the measure, which they say would prevent extreme margin volatility.
