FDA extends comment period on trans fat rules
The agency says the extension is in response to multiple stakeholder requests.

FDA announced it will extend the comment period for its preliminary determination that partially hydrogenated oils such as trans fats are not generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for use in food. The 60-day extension, which FDA says comes at the request of numerous stakeholders, will move the deadline to March 8, 2014. To submit comments to the FDA docket, use docket number FDA-2013-N-1317 at www.regulations.gov.
