According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, McDonald's has 10 million pounds of bone-in chicken wings in frozen storage after its Mighty Wings promotion this past Fall did not sell as well as expected. That represents about 20 percent of the wings purchased for the promotion. CEO Don Thompson admitted in an earnings call in October that the wings had performed "at the lower end of our expectations." McDonald's says it will bring back Mighty Wings at a discounted price of 3 for $2.99, as opposed to 3 for $3.69 or 5 for $5.59.
