Produced on behalf of the Scotch Whisky Association, the guide is meant to help spirits processors comply with food safety and hygiene law and is recognized by the UK’s Food Standards Agency.
According to FSA, the guide “gives comprehensive information of the principles behind hazard analysis, details current legal requirements, how to comply with the legislation, and practical advice on good practice.”
There is no legal requirement to follow the guide, and businesses may show compliance with hygiene legislation in other ways.
