The US Poultry & Egg Association, National Chicken Council, National Turkey Federation and United Egg Producers have updated an economic impact study that highlights the impact the poultry industry has on jobs, wages and federal and state revenue in the US.
According to the study, from 2012 to 2014 the poultry industry increased its number of jobs from 1,337,020, to 1,814,200 and increased its total economic activity from $265.5 billion to $469.6 billion.
The study breaks down poultry into three subcategories—chicken, turkey and eggs—and highlights key economic data from each.
“We are pleased to be able to provide this valuable tool across the industry that demonstrates the positive economic impact the poultry industry has on our communities,” said John Starkey, president of USPOULTRY.
