With less than a week to go before Valentine’s Day, one of the nation’s biggest candy gifting holidays, See’s Candies, Inc. has issued a recall on all of its 8-ounce Classic Red Hearts with Assorted Chocolates because the products contain undeclared free nuts, according to FDA.
The product was distributed nationwide through retail stores and mail order. The problem was discovered after a retail store found a red heart with the incorrectly labeled base mixed in with properly labeled bases.
Anyone with an allergy or sensitivity to tree nuts—including almonds, walnuts, pecans, coconut—runs the risk of a reaction if they consume these products.
No illnesses have been reported to date.
Consumers may return the products for a full refund.
