Congress questioned on sugar subsidies
US sugar producers have asked Congress to help eliminate global sugar subsidies. Testifying before the House Agriculture Committee, Jack Roney, director of economics and policy analysis for the American Sugar Alliance, said if governments refrain from trying to manipulate the market, world sugar prices will rise to reflect the cost of producing sugar, and everyone should benefit.
