Cargill opened its expanded cooked meats plant in Columbus, NE. The $111 million expansion adds 160,000 sq. ft. to the facility, doubling employment at the facility to 460 by the end of 2017.
Mars Chocolate NA is spending $100 million on its new Royal Canin plant in Sioux City, SD and $50 million to expand Wrigley’s Yorkville, IL facility, adding Skittles production. The company is also spending $31 million to update the Mars Food Greenville, MS facility.
Aurora Organic Dairy plans to construct a new dairy processing facility in Columbia, MO. The $100 million plant is expected to create 90 jobs initially, increasing to 150 total jobs over the next five years.
Star Snacks plans to locate a new 200,000-sq.-ft. plant in Macon-Bibb, GA to roast and distribute peanuts. The $18 million plant will put 115 people to work.
DelMonte Fresh Produce expects to expand its logistics with the purchase of a $22 million facility in Newark, DE. The 178,000-sq.-ft. produce distribution center will add a key distribution point for the company.
Lake Foods is investing $8 million to expand its cooked-poultry operations in Hartwell, GA. The 62,000-sq.-ft. facility includes processing and refrigerated storage.
Cargill broke ground on a $12 million, 11,700-sq.-ft. expansion at its Mason City, IA cooked-egg processing facility. This follows the completion of a $26 million expansion in 2016.
