Hansen Packaging is offering a line of compostable jars certified for food uses and made of resins from renewable sources.
The Made in Canada, Naturally jars are light and compostable in industrial facilities, and the resins don’t leach into the packaged goods.
Cannabis consumers have been outspoken in calling for a reduction in plastic packaging, the company says.
The black color uses waste streams of the hemp plant, which the company says is a first. The renewable resources used for the resins from Competitive Green Technologies have a zero-carbon footprint, minimizing use of fossil fuels.
The company tries to use, as much as possible, agricultural residues that are nonfood and nonforest based.
