For the first time in more than two decades, FDA has updated the Nutrition Facts label found on most food packages in the U.S. with three regulations updates:
- revision of the Nutrition Facts
- revision of the Supplement Facts
- changes in some of the serving sizes of foods.
These new regulations have a major impact on the food industry requiring an estimated 800,000 labels to be updated.
The new regulations change mandatory nutrients, added sugars, dietary fiber, folate, formatting and some food serving sizes. EAS’ newest training “FDA Nutrition Labeling – Facts and Impacts” offers an in-depth analysis of how these changes impact format, represent opportunities and challenges for claims nutrient content and health claims and discusses the new “healthy” claim.
