The National Milk Producers Federation, U.S. Dairy Export Council and International Dairy Foods Association express “growing apprehension” retaliatory tariffs are drawing closer.
Representatives from the U.S. dairy industry say it is “critical” that Congress solve the trade dispute over country-of-origin labeling (COOL) in order to block the progress of damaging new tariffs on dairy exports by Canada and Mexico.
Pat Roberts, chairman of the US Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, addressed the Senate last week, calling for a repeal of the COOL labeling requirements.
