FDA will partner with the Joint Institute for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (JIFSAN) at the University of Maryland to offer training to aquaculture producers on FDA regulations for importing seafood. It will also cover the judicious use of antimicrobials. JIFSAN will host the training on its website and provide certificates to those who have completed it. The US imports about 90 percent of its seafood, and the course should be useful for foreign producers who export to the US as well as foreign regulators.
