Team Five outlasted 27 other teams to become the winner of the fifth annual Amazing Packaging Race at PACK EXPO last week according to show organizer PMMI, the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies.
PMMI, The Association for Packaging & Processing Technologies, owner and producer of the PACK EXPO portfolio of trade shows, hosted the fifth annual event.
The race is an annual event at PACK EXPO that takes place on the show floor where teams of college students compete by completing packaging tasks at exhibitor booths.
Team Five—Amed Kanan from Hennepin Tech, Hannah Newman of the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Aaron Ertel from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and Jenna Hines and George Klingbail from Michigan State—won by completing tasks and reaching the most exhibitors.
“This was by far our biggest turnout ever, with 140 students participating,” said Maria Ferrante, vice president, education and workforce development, PMMI. “Working as a team and under time constraints gives them just a taste of what they can look forward to once they graduate and enter the packaging industry.”
Ten PMMI Partner Schools participated in the contest: Alexandria Tech, CalPoly, Clemson University, Hennepin Tech, Michigan State University, Rochester Institute of Technology, Rutgers, San Jose State, UW- Stout, Virginia Tech.
