Ecolab, Inc.—global water, energy and hygiene technology provider—has acquired controlling interest in Jianghai Environmental Protection Co. Ltd., an industrial water treatment company headquartered in Changzhou, China.
According to Ecolab, Jianghai provides water treatment technologies, chemistries and services to several industries in China, including customers in power and chemicals. Jianghai has more than 550 employees and operates two manufacturing plants in Changzhou with sales of $90 million in 2014.
Ecolab says the acquisition will enhance the company’s ability to address customer concerns regarding water constraints in China in addition to complementing its current industrial water treatment offerings under the Nalco name.
“Jianghai’s excellent reputation, size and product and service offerings complement and expand our water treatment business in China. Both companies are known for their service-oriented, problem-solving approach to optimizing customer operations and profitability,” said Douglas Baker Jr., Ecolab chairman and CEO.
Ecolab will continue to serve customers in China through both Jianghai and Nalco.
