The Ferrara Candy Company—manufacturer of classic sweets such as Lemonhead, Red Hot, Atomic Fireball and Jujyfruit—plans to end production at its Winona, MN candy plant in April and move operations to the company’s facility near Chicago. The closing will affect 124 employees.
The Winona Daily News reported the manufacturing facility was built in 1940 by the Schuler Candy Co. and has undergone multiple ownership changes throughout the years. Recently, a fire on Valentine’s Day significantly damaged the plant’s machinery.
