The US Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issued 25 citations to a Louisiana food manufacturer for alleged safety violations that exposed works to hazardous chemicals, electrical dangers and falls.
OSHA says it discovered the violations after an inspection of the Madisonville, LA facility operated by Diversified Foods and Seasonings LLC. The agency inspected the plant after an evacuation of the facility sent workers to the hospital as a precaution on Oct. 16, 2015. OSHA has proposed fines of $124,000 related to the citations.
Headquartered in Mandeville, LA Diversified Food and Seasonings employs about 270 people, including 60 workers in Madisonville. The company has 15 business days from receipt of its citations to contest the penalties.
