Brown Packing Company will spend more than $20 million to renovate 67,000 sq. ft. of its 150,000-sq.-ft. meat packing facility in Gaffney, S.C. Improvements include new cooling and wastewater treatment systems.
Diversified Foods is expanding its Madisonville, La., plant with a $12 million investment, which will add 44 new jobs. The facility makes a variety of products, including red beans sold at Popeyes.
Maple Leaf Foods will build a $600 million fresh poultry facility in London, Ontario. Hixson Architecture & Engineering will handle the 640,000-sq.-ft. project to be finished in the first half of 2021.
Smithfield Foods will invest $45 million to expand its bacon processing plant in Sioux Falls, S.D. The company has already invested $73 million at the former John Morrel site during the last five years. Smithfield also announced the grand opening of its $100 million, 500,000-sq.-ft. distribution center in Tar Heel, N.C.
Conagra Foods is planning a 60,000-sq.-ft. expansion to its Troy, Ohio, snack food (Slim Jim) facility, an investment of about
$70 million.
