E. & J. Gallo Winery (Gallo) will build a new state-of-the-art production facility and distribution center in Fort Lawn (Chester County), S.C., to support future business growth and its long-term innovation plans. The $423 million investment will create 496 new jobs over the next eight years, and is expected to be complete in October 2022.


Niagara Bottling LLC. will open a new production facility in Kansas City, Mo., next March. Niagara Bottling will initially create nearly 100 jobs and invest approximately $156 million in a 634,000-sq.-ft. facility at 11400 N. Airworld Drive near Kansas City International Airport.


Charleston Coffee Roasters, a craft coffee roasting company, plans to expand operations in North Charleston, S.C. The $2.2 million investment will create 28 new jobs and includes 21,600 sq.-ft. of added production space.


Cargill is planning a new canola processing plant in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. With construction to begin in 2022, the facility is expected to begin operations in 2024.


Kroger opened its new fulfillment center in Groveland, Fla., employing 400 people. The 375,000-sq.-ft. warehouse is automated and can fulfill thousands of orders per day.


Hill’s Pet Nutrition intends to invest more than $250 million to build a new factory in Tonganoxie, Kan., to help meet the growing demand for Hill’s pet nutrition. The new, innovative factory will feature the latest manufacturing technology and is expected to employ at least 80 people by 2025. Construction is slated to begin by year’s end with completion in 2023.


PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division is investing $200 million to add two production lines for its Funyuns and tortilla chips at its Rosenberg, Texas location. The expansion, which also adds capacity, will create 160 new jobs when it is finished in 2023.


Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group and one of the largest foodservice distributors in the nation, announced plans to expand operations in Florence, S.C. The $11 million-plus investment will create 150 new jobs and should be finished by mid-year 2022. 


Cold Creek Solutions has announced a new state-of-the-art 305,000-sq.-ft. cold storage facility in the heart of San Antonio’s industrial complex. This is the company’s second facility in Texas, and is expected to be ready in late 2022.


Sprouts Farmers Market opened its 135,000-sq.-ft. warehouse/distribution center in Orlando, Fla. The $9.3 million facility supports 23 stores in Florida and employs 57 people.


Richardson International, a Canadian food processing company, is expanding its canola crush plant in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, doubling its capacity. The facility is expected to be complete in early 2024.


Frozen Food Express (FFE) Transportation Services Inc., a nationwide temperature-controlled transportation and warehousing provider, is expanding its business with a new transportation facility in Butler, Mo. The company is investing nearly $6 million and creating nearly 100 new jobs in the region.


Kansas Dairy Ingredients is investing $45 million to expand its cheese operations Hugoton, Kan. Expected to be completed later this year, the facility will create 40 new jobs. 


Having broke ground in October 2020, Empirical Foods is on track to complete its $250 million ground beef facility in Garden City, Kan. between 2022 and 2023. 


Dairy cooperative Agri-Mark began construction on a new $16 million production facility adjacent to its existing facility in Chateaugay, New York. The coop is also revamping its existing 111,000-sq.-ft. plant while operations continue.


Domino’s plans to build new operations in a production and distribution center in Merrillville, Ind., Subject to approvals, the $50 million, 110,000-sq.-ft. pizza dough facility should be operational by the end of 2023.


Investing $88 million, Cacique, a Hispanic foods maker, is building a new 200,000-sq.-ft. dairy processing facility in Amarillo, Texas. The cheese and yogurt facility is expected to begin operations in fall, 2022, creating up to 500 jobs when the facility reaches full capacity.


Pennsylvania-based Quality Pasta, a maker of pasta dinners and side dishes, plans to locate new operations in Merrillville, Indiana. The $13 million, 90,000-sq.-ft. facility is expected to begin full operations by year’s end.


Kitchen 17, a vegan food producer, plans to relocate it headquarters, production and marketing operations to Huntington, Ind. The 25,000-sq.-ft. pizza production facility is expected to be operational by the end of 2024.


New Mexico Fresh Foods opened its new high-pressure processing tolling facility in Albuquerque, N.M., and will offer HPP tolling services plus co-packaging and co-manufacturing.


Revol Greens plans to locate a new lettuce produce/manufacturing in Temple, Texas, investing more than $110 million in a four-phase expansion. The facility includes a 40-acre greenhouse.


Kwik Trip is expanding its La Crosse, Wis. food production and support facility, receiving new performance-based tax credits.
