Frozen food company McCain Foods, the Canadian division of McCain Foods Limited, is making some changes to its Florenceville-Bristol, New Brunswick french fry plant. The company says it will invest $65 million to add a 32,000-sq.-ft. expansion to the existing fry plant featuring the latest manufacturing equipment and technology.
Construction on the plant is set to begin immediately with an anticipated completion date of late 2017 or early 2018. Overall the expansion is expected to create 40 to 50 new jobs.
According company officials, the new line will allow McCain to offer a broader range of products and meet the needs of its retail and foodservice customers and Canada, the US, and other export markets.
“Hash browns and other specialty products are the fastest-growing segment of the potato market,” he says. “This investment will help us continue to grow our North American and export businesses and just as importantly, allow us to support our customers’ growth targets as well.”
